About the Wisconsin Division

The Wisconsin Division of USA Fencing is the administrative body for fencing in Wisconsin. We're here to support, enhance, and develop the sport of fencing within the state and to support local tournaments.

Each year we hold qualifiers for the Div. 2/3 Championships, Y14 championships, and the Junior Olympics.

If you're a fencing club, we're here for you. For example, we can help you find a coach or referee for your next event.

If you're interested in fencing, we can help you find a club and put you in touch with a certified fencing coach.

Maestro Anthony Gillham
January 21, 1935 - May 25, 2020

It is with great sadness and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Maestro Anthony Gillham. Tony's fencing career spanned 68 years, starting at the London Fencing Club in 1952. He placed in the top 8 of competitions in England, Canada, and the United States and was an active veteran fencer before we had a name for it, finishing 12th in the World Masters in 1974.

He worked hard to earn his Fencing Master title and was a successful coach at the University of Wisconsin for twenty seasons. After a short retirement, he went on to teach many other young people the sport and officiated at competitions all over the USA. He also traveled with our Junior World team several times as a manager and armorer, once famously on a plane that was hijacked to Cuba. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

We are, all of us, diminished by his passing.
